"Matchstick" by Alexandra Corinth

someday, I will be an old woman / I'll be confused / maybe someday is now / my body is old / I don't know how I got here / maybe I have always hated fluorescent / maybe I don't care how this happened / as long as it stops now / maybe I don't want to care / the bones in this body are more matchstick than marrow / like standing in the only house you'll ever have/ the rug too close to the radiator / you can smell the beginning of the smolder / there is no water / you can't move / you wonder if you'll ever be old / if being old hasn't already happened / if the years went by / faster for this shell of a ship / than for all the other bodies
