"Through Clear-Colored Glasses" by Jamie Kahn
My eyeglasses are too big and in need of readjustment
The girl at the eyeglass place tells me
No problem
Right this way
She asks me of my plans for the summer
Even though we don't have to talk
I tell her I'm wrestling with final exams right now
But after that I'm moving
She tells me of her plans to go back to school someday
I say
Good for you
Half-heartedly
She gives me back my glasses
I put them on
Leave
And they are crooked
I hope she does go back to school
